The Sufi Evening “Plain Miracle” took place on 12 July, in anticipation of the V International Festival of Oriental Art and Music “RUMI FEST” (28/09/18 – 30/09/18).
The guests could attend the concert by a bright contestant of the sixth season of “The Voice” – a marvelous musician and singer Alexander Kazakov – and his group “Da’Ba”, the performance set in the background of an unconventional art-project – EBRU-show, when the artist Irina Trumpele was drawing on water .
The lobby was decorated with artistic works by a talented Riga florist and artist Marika Magnolia, which have become a true decoration of many homes and offices.
Alexander Kazakov is a singer well-recognized to Riga audience, and known in Latvia as the leader of “Da’Ba” band, founded in 2004. Alexander is the author of nearly 200 songs composed in different styles, his repertoire includes romances, rock and bard songs, bossa nova, his own compositions and immortal songs by A.Vertinsky, M.Bernes, B.Okudjava. In 2017 Alexander had a big success in the sixth season of “The Voice”, where his bright performances won the hearts of many listeners. A talented musician and singer, he regularly delights the audience at chamber concerts, where music lovers can appreciate his heartwarming and sincere rendition at full breath.
That evening the audience could see Ebru drawings on water appearing to the strains of music and charming voice. In a matter of minutes, evoked by sounds and lyrics, there were materializing images of Roerich-like landscapes, rose gardens, bright abstract patterns.
The art of Ebru – “paper marbling” – has been practiced for many centuries; still its origins are not known for certain and enveloped in mystery. What is known is that it roots back to ancient Sufi tradition. While travelling around Turkey, our artists were lucky to have a touch with this art of dancing-on-water paints and master the art technique. Ebru-show is a union of two Universes – music and drawing. These are two worlds, being constantly in motion, which amazingly portray the state of Eternity and Devine Beauty. In the union of artistic inspiration and musical rhythm, the voice gets opalescent with diverse sounds, but water – the source of all living – glitters with colours. Thus two elements become one, by expressing intimate thoughts and feelings in the fanciful pattern.
Finer thing lovers could open for themselves the artistry of Marika Magnolia, a talented florist, decorator and artist. Her hands make flowers transform into pieces of art – is it a bridal bouquet or a boutonniere, a flower arrangement for special occasions or floristic decorations. Creation of Beauty is her unique talent. Especially noticeable are Marika’s pictures made of flower petals. Their colour array and themes inspire the inimitable atmosphere and mood, become a wonderful décor for any interior. Flower mandalas make a significant part of her artistry, their sacral meaning adds to the dialogue with our subconscious, restoring the authentic harmony of man and nature.
